"Synagogue-of-the-Month"Our Featured Member Synagogue for March 2007 is Temple Israel, a Conservative congregation in Sharon. We are pleased to recognize Temple Israel in honor of its 70th anniversary. Temple Israel is an egalitarian Conservative congregation that provides a house of worship, Jewish education for both youth and adults, and opportunities for community activity and social action. The Temple Israel Community Welcomes You! For Your Mind... Whatever your age, interests, or skills, there is a full schedule of classes and activities certain to keep your mind engaged. A wide range of well-attended adult education courses and social action projects encourage participation at every level. Preschoolers may be enrolled in the award-winning Erna & Julius Hertz Nursery School, and children in grades K-12 attend our wonderful Religious School. Family workshops and parent learning are integrated with student learning. To enable the older students to continue their learning and involvement in Jewish life, we maintain a very active United Synagogue Youth (USY) program. In every situation, we strive to educate for knowledge, participation, and responsibility within the Jewish community. For Your Heart... As a shul member, you will find yourself enjoying various holiday-related events, meaningful family programs, and committee-sponsored activities all year long. Temple Israel is a vital social center in the local community. The Brotherhood, Sisterhood, and various committees of the Temple offer numerous opportunities for members to perform acts of tzedakah within the Temple community, the Jewish community, and the greater community-at-large. For Your Soul... Temple Israel is well known as a diverse spiritual community. While the Learners' Minyan, children's services, and family services encourage participation, other members simply enjoy the vibrancy and warmth they feel during the High Holy Day services. Many congregants find meaning and support in the weekly Shabbat services, the morning and evening Minyan, and personal life-cycle events.
