"Synagogue-of-the-Month"

Our Featured Member synagogue for October 2007 is Temple Beth Abraham, a Conservative synagogue in Canton. We are pleased to recognize TBA in honor of its 90th anniversary.

Temple Beth Abraham, an egalitarian congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts, is dedicated to cultivating, developing, and sustaining Judaism, Jewish living, and our community in consonance with the ideals and standards of the Conservative Movement.

The temple seeks to encourage and stimulate higher levels of Jewish knowledge, ethical practice, and ritual observance among our members, and to transmit these traditions to the next generations. Within our supportive community, we strive to foster meaningful worship experiences and a sense of being connected to God. The synagogue aims to provide a welcoming environment which values feelings of kinship, a sense of belonging, and spiritual enrichment both in daily living and life cycle events. We are committed to the performance of mitzvot; support for the local Jewish community, the State of Israel, and Jews around the world; outreach to the unaffiliated; and dialogue and understanding among Jews, as well as between Jews and our neighbors.

Through religious, educational, cultural, service and social opportunities, we endeavor to meet the needs of our current and future diverse community of Jews.

All members of our community, both men and women are encouraged to participate fully in our worship. Each person must see himself or herself as an equal participant in the sacred service of God. Toward this end, we always strive to make services at TBA accessible, engaging and participatory. Music, movement, story, discussion and explanation are all vehicles for taking our moments of prayer off of the bimah - pulpit and into each person's heart.

And prayer isn't just for adults. TBA proudly offers three children's services twice each month in addition to family services and special Shabbat and Holiday celebrations throughout the year for the entire community.

Temple Beth Abraham offers a wealth of spiritual, educational and social opportunities. From the Gan Avraham Nursery School to our vibrant Adult Education programming, we offer ways to enhance and advance your knowledge and celebration of our shared heritage and traditions.
