"Synagogue-of-the-Month"

Our Featured Member synagogue for October 2008 is Congregation Shaarei Tefillah, an Orthodox congregation in Newton. We are pleased to recognize the synagogue in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

Congregation Shaarei Tefillah is a modern Orthodox synagogue located in beautiful Newton Centre, Massachusetts, in the greater Boston area. Our small, energetic shul aspires to provide an inclusive, friendly, and participatory atmosphere conducive to personal growth through Torah study, serious religious expression, and building a supportive community of values and meaning. As our Sages taught us so long ago: The world stands on three things: Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Chasadim. At Shaarei, we too stand on, and just as importantly, we stand for these three foundational pillars.

This year, Shaarei Tefillah celebrates its 25th anniversary. As part of the celebration, numerous activities have been planned, including trips to area parks and zoos geared toward our youth this past spring and two Boston harbor cruises held during the summer. The culminating celebratory event will be a dinner to be held on November 23rd, 2008. The shul will be honoring Rabbi Benjamin and Stephanie Samuels for their leadership and service to our shul over the past thirteen years. In addition we will honor a group of distinguished members as "Amudei HaKahal" --pillars of the community.

We invite you to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, or to participate in the joy and warmth of our Torah study and religious services on Shabbat or holidays.
