"Synagogue-of-the-Month"

Our Featured Member synagogue for January 2009 is Temple Shalom, an independent, egalitarian congregation in Milton. We are pleased to recognize the synagogue in celebration of its 65th anniversary.

Temple Shalom of Milton was founded in 1944 as Jewish Bostonians expanded beyond their existing population centers in Mattapan and Roxbury. As the Jewish population of greater Boston has continued to shift over time, Temple Shalom has today become the focus of Jewish community for not just Milton, but a new generation of Jews living in Dorchester, Hyde Park, and Roslindale. Our members also come from other nearby communities such as Quincy and Canton.

Temple Shalom is an egalitarian, multigenerational congregation that warmly welcomes diversity, spirituality and community. We value Jewish living and the communal principles of Tzedakah and Tikun Olam.

GROWING! VIBRANT! EGALITARIAN! DIVERSE! INDEPENDENT! Temple Shalom is located at the foot of the Blue Hills just south of Boston on Route 138. Under the leadership of Rabbi Alfred Benjamin, you will find a Jewish community of warmth & welcome, concern & caring... and a Judaism expressed with thoughtfulness and meaning. We welcome you to join us for worship services. For more information, visit our website or call us at 617-698-3394.
