Dr. Susannah Heschel is the Eli M. Black Distinguished Professor of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College, where she is also chair of its very lively and distinguished Jewish Studies program. She writes about German Jewish history, including a book on Abraham Geiger and the Jewish Jesus, and a book on Protestant theologians in Nazi Germany who supported Hitler, The Aryan Jesus: Christian Theologians and the Bible in Nazi Germany. She has also edited several collections of her father’s writings, including Moral Grandeur and Spiritual Audacity. She is a Guggenheim fellow and has won numerous awards and grants. In November she received her fifth honorary doctorate, this one from a university in Switzerland.
