Welcome

Welcome to the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts (SCM), the only synagogue-based transdenominational organization of its kind in all of North America. Representing 200 Conservative, Orthodox, Reform, Reconstructionist and independent congregations and minyanim, SCM addresses a broad spectrum of religious Jewish abilities, needs and ideologies.  Our staff, Board and member congregations reflect the wide range of diversity that comprises our Jewish community. We are proud to welcome everyone, regardless of physical or emotional ability, to our Newton Centre office, community-wide programs and synagogue-based initiatives.  Be sure to check out our online and printed directories for information aboiut handicap accessibility in synagogues and minyanim across Massachusetts.

A beneficiary of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, the Synagogue Council supports area synagogues and promotes learning and dialogue across our community. Please use the menu links of our web site to learn about the various and important ways we help.

SCM emphasizes the inclusion of every Jew in Massachusetts who wishes to be a part of synagogue life. Our programs and advocacy support inclusive congregational life across denominational, agency and accessibility lines. SCM works within a wide demographic range of constituencies, seeking the intersection of inclusion and empowerment for all Jews.
